Shabwa: The local authority in Shabwa Governorate commemorated the Prophet Muhammad's birthday today with a speech event marking the occasion for 1448 AH. During the event, attended by the governors of Shabwa, Hadramout, Aden, Al Mahrah, Lahj, and Socotra, Capital Secretariat Secretary General Dr. Hamoud Abbad highlighted the deep religious significance of commemorating the Prophet's birth and the enduring bond between the Yemeni people and the Prophet Muhammad.
According to Yemen News Agency, Abbad emphasized that Yemenis celebrate the Prophet's birthday on a grand scale due to their special historical relationship with him, noting that Yemenis were among those closest to him and held a special place in his heart. He stated that Shabwa is among Yemen's leading governorates in commemorating the Prophet's birthday, with celebrations held across its districts, villages, and local communities. He also stressed the importance of embodying the values of Islam, particularly love and brotherhood, in daily life and following the Prophet's example.
Abbad urged the people of Shabwa and the southern and eastern governorates to actively participate in the celebrations and mobilization ahead of the main event on 12 Rabi' al-Awwal, expressing love and reverence for the Prophet Muhammad. Shabwa Deputy Governor Hamza Ahmed, speaking on behalf of the governor, described the commemoration as a major spiritual occasion through which people draw guidance and seek to emulate the Prophet's noble character. He called for unity, rejection of division, and preservation of the spiritual and material cohesion of the Yemeni people. He also called on residents to participate in the mass mobilization for the central Prophet's birthday celebration scheduled for 12 Rabi' al-Awwal at Al-Sabeen Square in Sana'a and in other governorates.
The event featured a religious address by Sheikh Abdulmalek Al-Mu'adhdhin, who highlighted the religious significance of commemorating the Prophet's birth and called for active participation in related events and activities. Poetry, an operetta, devotional chants, and a theatrical performance were also presented by the troupe affiliated with the Higher Academy for Quran Memorization, in the presence of local and executive officials from Shabwa and other southern and eastern governorates.
