Sanaa: Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research for the Higher Education Sector, Ibrahim Luqman, recently convened with members of the preparatory committee responsible for organizing the Yemeni Medicinal Honey Scientific Conference to finalize arrangements for the event. The meeting focused on strategies to enhance the value chains of Yemeni honey and boost vegetation cover, supporting the sustainability of the sector and aiding efforts to localize natural pharmaceutical industries.

According to Yemen News Agency, Deputy Minister Luqman reiterated the Ministry's commitment to facilitating the conference in alignment with government policies and leadership directives. He underscored the importance of active engagement from public and private universities as well as scientific research centers in the conference themes, noting that such collaboration could transform Yemeni honey into a strategic pharmaceutical asset integral to the national economy and sustainable development.

Abdulrahman Al-Alfi, the Secretary-General of the conference, emphasized the significance of synergy between governmental bodies and the academic sector in advancing pharmaceutical industries using natural products, particularly Yemeni honey. He detailed the technical and scientific preparations underway to ensure a successful conference.

Hassan Ibrahim, the Head of the Scientific Committee, outlined the conference's structure, which revolves around six scientific axes aimed at invigorating research in bee product-related pharmaceutical industries. These axes will explore the chemical composition and pollen of bee products, establishing their botanical and geographical origins to enhance their credibility as medicinal products.

Muin Al-Mutawakkil, the Head of the Organizing Committee, highlighted that the conference builds on the outcomes of a national workshop aimed at developing skills in pharmaceutical industries. Plans include signing a research and training partnership protocol between a pharmaceutical company and a Yemeni university, alongside organizing an exhibition and workshops to support beekeepers and localize honey-related industries.
