Sana'a: The General Zakat Authority organized an annual awareness meeting for scholars, preachers, and guides in the Capital Secretariat, on the occasion of the advent of the month of Ramadan. The meeting emphasized the importance of raising community awareness about the obligation of Zakat, and the role of scholars and preachers in urging people to pay it, and introducing its legitimate channels of expenditure.
According to Yemen News Agency, participants affirmed that the Authority is the body mandated to collect Zakat and distribute it to its beneficiaries, noting that the database of beneficiaries has reached nearly 1.2 million families. They called for redoubling efforts to revive this pillar of Islam and enhance social solidarity, especially during the holy month.
