Hajjah: An extended meeting was held in Abs District of Hajjah province on Sunday, chaired by governor Hilal Al-Soufi, to discuss the possibility of implementing the district's existing urban plans and follow up on procedures for approving newly prepared plans.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting reviewed ways to complete the approval of new urban plans at the General Authority for Lands. The meeting also discussed the possibility of beginning to open roads that are free of violations in accordance with the old plans and planting trees along both sides to preserve their designated layouts, ahead of subsequent paving and asphalt works.
The participants approved opening roads that are 70 percent ready, while lists of violations affecting the remaining 30 percent will be compiled to identify appropriate solutions. Solutions and corrective measures will also be developed for roads where violations exceed 70 percent. They urged the local authority and Public Works Office in Abs to benefit from the experience implemented in the province center by requiring owners of concrete mixers, loaders, and excavators to refrain from carrying out any work until building permits have been verified.
The meeting also stressed the need for coordinated efforts among the relevant authorities to facilitate residents' movement and improve the district's urban landscape. Meanwhile, the province's Public Works Sector and Abs district, in cooperation with the local authority and the Lands Authority branch, launched road surveying and demarcation works in accordance with the approved plans in the district.
At the launch, Engineer Mohammed Safi Al-Din said the local authority in the governorate was keen to open roads to improve services in the district, expand the scope of services, facilitate traffic, and improve the urban landscape.
