Muscat: The general consumer price index in the Sultanate of Oman recorded an increase of 1.6% in December of the past year compared to the same month in the base year 2018 of 2024. The average inflation rate for the period from January to December 2025 also rose by 1%.
According to Yemen News Agency, data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information in the Sultanate showed that the category of miscellaneous goods and personal services topped the list of increases, recording a price rise of 10%. This was followed by the transportation group with a 2.8% increase, then the restaurants and hotels group at 2.6%, the furniture, household equipment, and maintenance group at 2.4%, and the education group at 2.2%.
Prices also rose in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group by 1.1%, the clothing and footwear group by 0.2%, and the health group by 0.1%.
On the other hand, the culture and entertainment group recorded a price decline of 0.1%. Meanwhile, prices remained stable without any change in the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group, the tobacco group, and the communications group.
