Lahj: Lahj Governor and member of the Political Bureau of Ansarullah, Ahmed Jarib, declared that Yemeni unity is an inevitable destiny and an inherent essence of the nation, not merely a product of a fleeting political moment. He emphasized the historical continuity of Yemen as a unified entity, resilient against various fragmentation attempts.
According to Yemen News Agency, Jarib stated on the occasion of the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen that those who seek to undermine Yemeni unity should study history to understand the enduring nature of the Yemeni land and people's unity, which has triumphed over efforts to fracture this cohesive fabric. He highlighted that Yemen has historically remained unified, and during divisive periods, Yemenis have worked to maintain this unity, a truth upheld by the sacrifices of martyrs.
Jarib linked the concept of unity to the October 14 and November 30 revolutions, describing them as interconnected with unity as a core objective, resulting in independence from British colonial rule. He noted that Yemenis from both the north and south united against colonialism, achieving independence on November 30, 1967, a significant step towards national unity restoration.
The governor stressed that the National Charter during the armed struggle prioritized unity, a commitment maintained in subsequent political documents, including the Yemeni Nationality Law and agreements like the Cairo Agreement of 1972 and the Tripoli Statement, referring to the 1981 unification constitution.
Jarib questioned the rationale of those aligning with foreign powers to reverse historical progress, affirming that unity, national harmony, and social cohesion are Yemen's destined path. He emphasized that attempts to incite separatism would be extinguished by divine intervention and the collective will of the Yemeni people, who have historically overcome conspiracies.
He referred to statements by Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, noting that coalition aggression aimed to create division among Yemenis using various divisive slogans. Jarib stressed that unity reflects the Yemeni people's identity and serves their national interests, countering foreign attempts to fragment the nation.
Concluding, Jarib reiterated that unity aligns with Yemen's identity and interests, advocating for cooperation and resolution of grievances through justice and national partnership. He declared that the anniversary of unity underscores the unbreakable nature of the project and that efforts to fragment Yemen are futile. Jarib pledged continued loyalty to the homeland and the guardianship of unity until victory and freedom are achieved for all Yemeni soil.
