Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns UN Security Council Statement on Yemen and Gaza Silence

Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the press statement issued yesterday by the UN Security Council regarding what it called the detention of UN staff.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry criticized the Security Council for lamenting over UN employees and certain diplomatic staff, who are allegedly members of espionage cells involved in crimes against Yemen's national security, while remaining silent on the ongoing war crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Yemen. This includes the targeting of the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction and his companions. The Ministry also highlighted the Council's failure to adopt resolutions condemning genocide and starvation crimes against civilians and infrastructure in Gaza, as well as the killing of humanitarian workers, which has reached 540 casualties.

The Ministry asserted that these actions reflect double standards, undermine the credibility of the international organization, and demonstrate that the Security Council is a tool in the hands of the United States, serving its interests and providing cover for the Zionist entity. The Ministry noted that while the Security Council expressed concern over Yemen's deteriorating humanitarian situation, it failed to acknowledge that the ongoing aggression and blockade, imposed for ten years, are the direct cause. Moreover, the politicization of humanitarian work in Yemen has led the UN to reduce or suspend aid in certain governorates due to Yemen's support for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Ministry reiterated Yemen's respect for agreements related to the immunities and privileges of UN and diplomatic missions and their staff. However, it stressed that Yemeni security authorities will take all necessary measures to safeguard the nation's security and stability. It emphasized Yemen's rejection of any pressure aimed at deterring its moral and humanitarian stance in support of Gaza or from exercising sovereign measures against threats to national security. The Ministry renewed its call for the United Nations and its affiliated organizations to respect Yemen's sovereignty and national laws.
